High School or the TV Show Survivor- Which is More Cutthroat?

The chances are you will have heard about the TV show Survivor. It is already in its 36th season and has been syndicated all over the world. In this reality TV, a group of contestants is marooned in an isolated location, and they have to provide food, water, fire, and shelter for themselves. Contestants are progressively eliminated from the game as they lose challenges and are voted out by their fellow contestants. The last person remaining is the sole survivor and wins. This theme can be linked to high school in a few manners; peer pressure, making it day by day, and fear of being left behind. While these feelings are normal, receiving teenage counseling services, like those provided by Insight Treatment, could help smooth out the stressful years in high school.

Teenage Counseling Services

About ‘Survivor’

The format was created in 1992 by a British television producer and has been nominated for several Emmy Awards. Recently this show where the contests have to outwit each other for survival was compared to life in middle school. After receiving teenage counseling services, high school will feel less cutthroat and more like

How ‘Survivor’ works

In Survivor, contestants are placed in a foreign environment and given several challenges while being forced to interact with strangers. Contestants are grouped into Tribes. Middle school presents the same challenges. A new environment, filled with strangers and plenty of challenges. Children form small cliques or peer groups with such strong bonds that they resemble the tribal groups in Survivor.

They also dress according to an unspoken dress code which reveals the identity of their group. Being a part of a group is difficult and perilous for school children as it is for the contestants of Survivor when they have to find friends, decide who they can trust and be aware of who could eventually betray them.

Both children in middle school and contestants in Survivor are in fierce competition with each other. Students compete to be noticed, to get good grades for social status. While in Survivor contestants compete for survival. But in both, there is a way to survive, and the key is in creating good relationships, which is probably easier in High School.

How it relates To Teenagers

High schoolers also have the luxury of being able to keep their old friends but also make new ones. This is probably the most important thing that a teen can do to ensure not just their survival but the enjoyment of middle school. Those contestants who do well in Survivor work hard to form alliances early on. Having a group of friends will help a teen through many of the challenges that will present themselves during Middle school, and it will certainly make lunch periods more fun. The best way to make friends in Middle School is by being friendly and being patient.

It just takes a bit of time to recognize a person who thinks the same way. Having time is something the contestants in Survivor do not have. So, although Middle School seems as cutthroat as Survivor, there are more possibilities of survival and although the competition is fierce in Middle School, there is a possibility for everyone to survive.
